Workshop on GP/GPU - CUDA Programming

C-DAC, Bangalore announces a 2-day workshop on GP/GPU programming with an aim to introduce the approach and practices of using GPGPU and develop software applications for high performance computing.

Graphics cards have long been used to accelerate gaming and graphics applications. More recently, they have begun to be used to accelerate more general-purpose and high-performance applications. Both conventional and unconventional many-core processors hold the promise of increasing performance through parallelism. However, GPU approaches in parallelism are distinctly different from those of conventional multi- and many-core processors, which raise new challenges.

C-DAC's HPC initiatives are aimed at designing, developing and deploying advanced computing systems, tools and technologies that impact strategically important application areas. It has been promoting an environment of innovation and dealing with cutting edge technologies in HPC. The workshop focuses on the key concepts, technologies, and practices when building a high performance application for GPUs'. Overview of High-Performance GPU Architectures begins with a review of parallel programming techniques, like OpenMP and MPI, and then transitions to cover the modern parallel programming technologies found in modern multi-core and GPU systems.

The workshop will be conducted by experienced software developers and R&D professionals from C-DAC. The workshop emphasizes on extensive hands-on for CUDA C/C++ on GP/GPU boards.

Topics covered are:

  1. High Performance Computing Architectures
  2. Multi-core & Parallel Programming & Paradigms
  3. Performance analysis and practical aspects of parallel programming
  4. GP/GPU architectures
  5. Programming with CUDA
  6. CUDA applications
